How to Choose a Bar Fridge in NZ

Bar fridges, mini fridges and small fridge freezers all do a similar job in a compact space. Three questions narrow the choice quickly.

1. Fridge only, fridge with freezer, or freezer only?

• Fridge only gives the most chilled space for drinks and snacks. The Midea 124L bar fridge (MDRD181FGM01AP) has a 4.5-star energy rating and a listed noise level of 37dB(A).
• Small fridge freezer suits apartments, flats and offices that need both. The Midea 87L bar fridge and freezer (MDRT134FGF50AP) splits into a 61L fridge and a separate 26L freezer, each with its own door.
• Freezer only adds frozen storage without the footprint of a full height freezer. The Midea 83L compact bar freezer (MDRD129FGF01AP) has a 4-star energy rating.

2. Measure the space, including air around it

Allow extra room for ventilation and for the door to open fully. If the unit is going under a bench, measure the opening height and check the ventilation clearances in the manual before ordering. On the 87L model the doors are reversible; on the 124L model door reversal must be done by a qualified technician for an additional fee.

3. Home use or a commercial bar?
